Meet Teri Johnson
Teri Johnson is the founding partner and CEO of Personal Best Partners. She brings a life-long passion for business and helping people rise to a new level of success that is a custom fit for each, whether they are leading a team, a company, an organization or simply their own best life.
Teri approaches business challenges with a strengths mindset that focuses on what individuals and teams do well naturally. Through helping people understand what each of their signature strengths bring and what they require to perform at their best, she inspires greater confidence and true ownership of talents. Teri facilitates interdependence through collaboration using innovative approaches to creative solutions.
Teri most enjoys working with those who have a big vision, are non conformists and willing to experiment. Her blended background in business, education and the arts give her a unique approach to facilitating teams and groups which delivers engagement, fun and solid results.
Teri holds multiple certifications in coaching and assessments, including a CPC from Invite Change and SSCC from Strengths Strategy. She is a licensed Legacy Leadership facilitator and certified to deliver the PRINT assessment.
Meet Russ Hertenberger
Russ Hertenberger is the co-founder of Personal Best Partners and provides leadership and talent development for those in the technical arena. Russ brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to bear on any project he is involved in. He is highly adaptable to changing markets and requirements, having designed in industries as disparate as wireless, cellular, avionics, satellite, cable TV, medical, military and consumer electronics.
Using his strengths of adaptability and quick study, Russ strives to achieve a common thread throughout the work: simple elegance in the design while still meeting or exceeding all the specifications of the unit or system, being on-time and within budget.
Russ is adept at taking a product from inception to production, and is a good liaison among different departments where varying points of view and focus can sometimes seem to be at odds with each other. He has frequently mentored junior engineers, and is described by his team members as a calming, positive influence.
Meet Tinus van der Merwe
MBA, SSCC, CPCC, ACC
Tinus is a Strengths Strategy® Certified Coach, with an infectious passion for coaching and abundance of care as well as an intuitive approach for his clients. His 31 years’ experience spans a wide variety of industries as well as the non-profit sector, and includes coaching, change management, learning and development, performance management, organisation development, expatriate (international HR) management, HR strategy and business planning.
The key to his coaching lies in new insights being achieved through strategic strengths coaching that shines a bright light on people’s strengths, enabling them to combine their different strengths in more powerful ways.
Tinus holds his clients to be creative, resourceful and whole by nature, and words hand in hand with his clients to bring the unimaginable to life.
He has clients from a wide variety of cultures and countries, from Specialists to Executives.
Other qualifications include BA Honours (Counseling Psychology) from University of South Africa and MBA from University of Stellenbosch Business School, South Africa, certified as A & B level test user with the British Psychological Society (BPS), and Co-Active Coaching Certification from the Coaches Training Institute (CTI).

Meet Stan C. Kimer
Consultant on Call
Stan C. Kimer, founder and president of Total Engagement Consulting, offers unique skills in employee development/career mapping, and workplace diversity (all areas but with a deep specialization in LGBT – Gay, Lesbian Bisexual, Transgender.) Stan formed his own consultancy around these two areas he is most passionate about following a 31-year successful diverse, multi-functional career at IBM.
During his four years on IBM’s global corporate diversity staff, Stan led IBM into industry leadership in LGBT diversity and established IBM’s procedures for supporting transgender employees undergoing gender transition while in the workplace. And in his last role at IBM overseeing career development of a global 3000 person sales operations team, Stan rolled out a career development process which increased employee engagement in career planning from 20% to over 80%.
Since forming his own consulting practice, Stan has trained or spoken in over 50 venues reaching over 3,000 professionals in areas including overall diversity, LGBT diversity, gender transition, career development and leadership.
Stan received his MBA from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business and BS in management science from Georgia Tech. And in his spare time, Stan is training to be a competitive adult figure skater.
